Todd Barton
After four decades of exploration Todd Barton continues to delve deeply into the ever-expanding frontiers of musical expression: from his DNA derived Genome Music to his innovative scores for plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival; from performances of Zen shakuhachi meditation music to avant-garde music for electronic synthesizers and computers; from performing with luminaries of jazz and poetry to lecturing on music and composition from the Middle Ages to the 21st Century.
Currently Todd Barton teaches Composition and Electronic and Computer Music at Southern Oregon University. Since 1969 he has been the Resident Composer for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
Todd’s electronic music has been featured in film, radio, tv, dance and art installations. He often performs live electronics with various multi-media groups including sonoluminescence and T2.
This new album, analogie, is deeply influenced by Todd’s passion for vintage electronic music. The sounds embrace the 1950’s and 1960’s golden age of musique concrete and elektronische musik. All sounds and music were created using the Buchla 200e Electric Music Box.
